Clam Sentinel can have some false positives on installer files and some other files that are kind of "sloppy. You can handle this by disabling the Sentinel system monitor, downloading (but not running/installing the file yet), which will be scanned by the ClamWin engine. Then upload the file to Jotti or Virus Total for verification. If it is okay, install the file, then enable the Sentinel system monitor again. Then run/execute the program and see if any malware is detected by either the system monitor or ClamWin engines. As I said, installers and installation routines are not very elegant, and they really should be better written. It is not Sentinel's fault! rwsmc Rated out of 5 stars on 2012-07-01 19:36:14 At most cases ClamWin+ClamSentinel do an adecuate job.
But ClamSentinel (no ClamWin) get mad an trow clean files to the Quarentine folder.
It do so with applications Installer but, worst, with every an single .7ZIP Executable file. Such becomes a nuisance. Galo E. Villarán Rated out of 5 stars on 2012-06-14 16:59:32
Clam Sentinel uses the ClamWin scan engine and virus signatures to scan your computer (Win 98, XP, Vista, Win7) as files are added, modified, or copied to it. Clam Sentinel also has its own heuristic engine to detect viruses/malware for which there are no ClamWin signatures. Clam Sentinel comes pre-configured with options suitable for most users, but advanced users can easily customize their configuration via the Clam Sentinel badge icon in the Windows system tray. ClamWin should be installed before Clam Sentinel is installed. Clam Sentinel has several updates each year for new detections and program improvements. Users are encouraged to make suggestions for improvement via the Clam Sentinel web site. Guitar Bob Rated out of 5 stars on 2012-06-10 17:19:58 Average rating 2 out of 5 stars
