Cognatio is a modern application for genealogical research, storage and presentation. In addition to the functionality you would expect from such an application, there are several functions you don't find in anywhere else: export to XML (three different XML formats, not LE), advanced name and place structures, and a complete IDE for programming your own reports. Cognatio also supports entering research tasks (not LE), custom events, pictures or any other kind of file, multiple names, conflicting information, dates in different calendars, and more. The application is able to read and write both Gedcom 4, Gedcom 5.5, Gedcom 5.5.1 and GenXML 2.0 files. In addition, GedcomXML 6.0, GedML, HTML and CSV-files may also be exported (only GenXML and Gedcom 5.5 for the Light Edition). Cognatio comes in two versions: Light and Standard. The Light Edition is free. It is a fully functional application. The Standard Edition contains additional functionality like saving reports into RTF (or other formats), merging of two persons, adding research data, and programming of report types. To unlock the Standard Edition you need a license key. The license key can be bought directly from within the application for $25 (+VAT). An Internet connection is required. You may easily translate the complete application to your own language. A separate translation tool is also provided.
