Advertisement ▼ Word Space! is a game designed for use by emergent and early readers. The app utilizes a fun, interactive outer space-themed format to teach the concept of word families. One of the fundamental skills of phonics, a clear understanding of word families is crucial to word decoding, phonemic awareness and eventual reading success.
The game offers practice and repetition focusing on four word families: -at, -an, -og and -ar. Students will be able to use the word families to create a word by inserting a letter and then will be rewarded by an accompanying image.
This game is suitable for all early readers, especially students at the kindergarten to first grade level. It will also provide a fun, interactive source of practice for any student who needs additional practice to develop and enhance their reading skills.
