GO SMS Exporter

GO SMS Exporter allows you to export individual GO SMS thread backups to plain text files. Use them for sending entire conversations through email or simply back them up in a format that is easily readable on other devices or computers.

I wrote this for myself so if you like it, great! If not, no harm done (it was free with no ads) - maybe something else will suit your needs better.

There are a lot of SMS export/backup programs out there, but I wrote this one because it has a specific purpose that the other programs didn't cover. With GO SMS, you can store a long thread in a backup, delete the thread from your device and as you send/receive more texts you can incrementally add those to the backup. Doing this, you can have a very large backup file and the only way to read it is to import it into your internal SMS database. With GO SMS Exporter, you can now export that backup file directly to a plain text file.

To backup your thread in GO SMS, long-press on a thread and select "Backup thread". Once you've done that, launch GO SMS Exporter to export the thread to a TXT file which contains the entire thread in text form. Each text has a timestamp and name associated to it.

GO SMS Exporter will also create a CSV file containing dates and message counts for each day. If you're really anal retentive, you can chart your activity over time in Excel. :)

LIMITATIONS:

GO SMS Exporter only works with BINARY backups (these are the default in GO SMS) and NOT with XML backups.

GO SMS Exporter will only work with individual thread backups for a single individual, not entire SMS backups (i.e., SMS backups from their backup service will be ignored.)
